All donations matched up to $1.5 million

Lucky Duck Foundation announces “Share Your Luck Season”

New initiative highlights multitude of ways San Diegans can “Share Their Luck” to prevent and alleviate homelessness

ALL donations TRIPLED up to $125,000 through St. Patrick’s Day

The Lucky Duck Foundation (LDF) today announced its newest initiative, “Share Your Luck Season,” for the next 10 days leading up to St. Patrick’s Day. The purpose is to raise awareness and funds for a variety of ways San Diegans can aid our homeless neighbors while taking advantage of tripling all donations.

Every day through St. Patrick’s Day, LDF will highlight one specific and tangible opportunity for which San Diegans can Share Their Luck to prevent and alleviate the suffering of homelessness throughout San Diego County. Additionally, all donations will be tripled up to $125,000 thanks to generous matching challenges from LDF’s co-founders as well as David & Vala Lueth and Ron & Guadalupe Cohn.

“This effort is meant to shine a light on a multitude of ways San Diegans can help in meaningful and immediate ways through LDF and some of our collaborative partners,” said Drew Moser, LDF CEO. “Ever since LDF was founded, our belief has been that if you consider yourself to have had good fortune and luck in your life, share that luck with those in need. As such, we encourage San Diegans to do their part, big or small, to Share Their Luck to help address our region’s homeless crisis. We also offer our sincerest thanks the Lueth’s and Cohn’s for their generous support of this effort.”

The first Share Your Luck opportunity is to become a member of the newly launched Lucky Duck Coffee Club program where companies and individuals can purchase premium grade coffee and at least 30% of the purchase price will directly support LDF’s many programs. Companies and individuals are encouraged to purchase coffee knowing that effort will prevent and reduce homelessness.

Additional opportunities include but are not limited to volunteering with and supporting several of LDF’s collaborative partners, including Timmy’s Place, We See You San Diego, and Home Start.

Everyone who participates in “Share Your Luck Season” through the gift of their time, talent, or treasure will be entered to win a variety of prizes including a $500 gift card to Timmy’s Place for printing or catering, customized LDF swag from Nike and Columbia, and a $250 gift card to Home Start’s Bright Futures Candles.

What LDF’s collaborative partners are saying:

Tower Coffee

“If you already drink coffee, why not make it count? We are pleased to provide exceptionally crafted, sustainable, and 100% organic coffee that makes a meaningful impact on the community. We are thrilled to partner with the Lucky Duck Foundation to support their lifesaving work and programs.”

– Jim Miller, Executive Director, Coffee Club Partnerships, Tower Coffee Inc.

We See You San Diego

“We are so excited to partner with and benefit from LDF’s ‘Share Your Luck Season.’ Our weekly dinner is more than just a dinner. Rather, we invite people to leave the streets right then and there, and we cover the cost of their drug and alcohol detox and treatment all the way to getting them fully back on their own two feet. Like LDF, we’re laser focused on providing an immediate pathway off the streets, and we hope many people can volunteer with us to accomplish this work.”

– Laura Chez, Founder & Executive Director, We See You San Diego

Home Start

“Our transition-age young mothers exiting from homelessness are very excited to participate in our Social Enterprise programs. We are so grateful for the generous LDF support of our Bright Futures Candles and Thrift Boutique programs. This valued partnership helps create a pathway to bright futures for these strong, capable, and resilient young mothers.”

– Laura Tancredi-Baese, CEO, Home Start

Timmy’s Place

“Our youth are extremely grateful for the employment opportunity provided to them at Timmy’s Place. Public support of the pizzeria, and especially the catering and print businesses, are instrumental in employing them while also ‘teaching them to fish.’”

– Eric Lovett, Founder & CEO, Urban Street Angels
