1.8+ Million Meals Distributed to San Diego’s Unsheltered Homeless Population

Thanks to generous support from local philanthropist Gwendolyn Sontheim and the Aqualia International Foundation, LTD, along with several other donors, we purchase non-perishable meals and water to provide life-saving sustenance to San Diego’s unsheltered homeless population. The program reaches approximately 250-1,000 people daily and to date more than 1.8 million meals have been delivered.

The meals are assembled by volunteers and Lucky Duck Foundation staff coordinates with local outreach teams to provide them with packed meals to distribute throughout the County.

These efforts provide our unsheltered neighbors with life-saving sustenance while also better equipping the outreach workers to connect with unsheltered people and help them into supportive services.

A survey of the outreach workers demonstrates the importance of the meals:

85% believe they have more positive interactions with people living unsheltered because of the food & water

88% believe the food & water make them more effective outreach workers

97% believe the food & water is lifesaving
